Understanding the skills required by the labour market is important, but meeting those who experience that market first-hand every day is even more so. For this reason, the TRANSFORM project has devised an experience that goes beyond the online training offered by its Smart Skills Intelligence Portal: a job counselling programme that puts workers and jobseekers in direct contact with three companies that have already successfully tackled the challenge of the digital and ecological transition, one for each of the project’s key sectors: tourism, agri-food and energy.
The stories of those who have already been there
Skills can be learnt, but career paths are also built by closely observing those who have already found their way. For this reason, TRANSFORM is organising a series of meetings with three companies based in Sicily, selected because they exemplify what it means today to innovate sustainably within their respective sectors.
Each company will open its doors to participants through a series of interactive sessions, designed to guide attendees step by step:
- The stories behind: each company will share its story, the challenges it has faced and the choices it has made to adapt to the new environmental and digital standards in its sector.
- Study visit: a first-hand tour of the business, to see for themselves how work is actually carried out in a corporate environment that has made the digital and ecological transition a key strength.
- Practical advice: sessions dedicated to discussion, during which the companies will share concrete suggestions on the skills to develop and the paths to follow in order to build a competitive professional profile in that specific field.
Three sectors, three perspectives
The three counselling paths reflect the strategic sectors identified by the TRANSFORM project:
- Tourism, to understand how a sector traditionally linked to the local area can innovate through digitalisation and the reduction of its environmental impact.
- Agri-food, to discover how sustainable supply chains and new technologies are transforming production, from farm to fork.
- Renewable Energy, to take an in-depth look at the new professional roles emerging from the transition to renewable energy sources and energy efficiency.
Each partner enterprise will therefore share its first-hand experience, offering participants three different perspectives on how to navigate these rapidly evolving sectors with confidence.
How to participate
Job counselling sessions are an opportunity reserved for those who enrol on one of the courses offered by the Smart Skills Intelligence Portal. To access the meetings with companies, you must therefore first enrol on a training programme on the platform, choosing your sector of interest from energy, agri-food and tourism, or developing your transferable skills in entrepreneurship and digitalisation. Once registered, participants will be able to follow their personalised online programme, of at least 5 modules for a total of 30 hours, and, at the same time, take part in meetings organised with companies, thereby combining theoretical training with real, practical contact with the world of work that is transforming it.
Why sign up?
Job counselling sessions with companies are both an informative experience and an opportunity to:
- engage directly with those who work every day in the energy, tourism and agri-food sectors;
- understand which skills are genuinely in demand in the workplace;
- receive practical advice on how to shape your career path;
- build a network of contacts that will be useful for your next career moves.
In a rapidly changing job market, being able to observe at close those companies that have already successfully undertaken the dual transition is a real opportunity to understand not only what to learn, but also how to put what you have learnt into practice.
An opportunity for small Sicilian businesses too
The job counselling programme is complemented by an initiative designed specifically for small and medium-sized enterprises. In addition to face-to-face meetings with the three partner companies, the Smart Skills Intelligence Portal offers thematic seminars and workshops dedicated to SMEs, designed to support them as they adapt to new environmental and digital standards. This provides tangible support for businesses wishing to seize the opportunities presented by the dual transition, rather than simply enduring it, by offering practical tools to help them innovate their business processes.
