Sustainability and youth: an international training course in Slovenia

Building with natural materials, gardening sustainably, working with young people from diverse backgrounds: these are skills increasingly in demand in the education sector. To meet this need, Sustainable Steps is launching From Footprints to Blueprints, a free international training course aimed at educational staff and those working in a voluntary capacity.

Sustainable Steps works on the three pillars of sustainability — environmental, social and economic — developing educational tools for young people and for those who support them in their learning journeys. The From Footprints to Blueprints training course makes the methodologies and materials developed by the project available to participants, translating them into a one-week hands-on programme.

The course will take place from 6 to 12 July 2026 in Zgornja Korena (Slovenia), at Nacekova Hiša, facilitated by local trainers. The international group will bring together participants from Italy, Austria, Spain, Ireland and Slovenia: three places are available for Italy. The programme combines theory and practice through workshops on building with natural materials, sustainable gardening activities, group work and intercultural exchange. Participants will take home ready-to-use educational tools, methods to engage young people and ideas for designing sustainable initiatives in their own contexts.
