The future of urban mobility calls for informed choices and proactive steps. The way we move through cities directly impacts our environment, our health and our quality of life.
As the GREENMOBILITY project draws to a close, it offers an opportunity to reflect on the meaningful strides made toward creating more sustainable urban environments.
Launched in 2022 as part of the Erasmus+ Programme, GREENMOBILITY has been dedicated to transforming urban mobility in line with the European Green Deal. By equipping citizens, organisations and local authorities with innovative resources, tools and training, the project has fostered the adoption of practices that prioritise sustainability in the face of contemporary urban challenges.
The project’s key outputs are accessible on the GREENMOBILITY website, a repository that will remain active beyond the initiative’s conclusion. These resources include:
- The Learners Handbook: A detailed guide to urban mobility, offering insights into contemporary mobility challenges and sustainable solutions. Available in all partner languages, the Handbook now features an interactive index, which allows users to easily navigate and download chapters that are relevant to their specific interests.
- The Collaborative Platform: A space for exchanging best practices and ideas on sustainable urban mobility, featuring success stories, events and community dialogues.
- The Self-Assessment Toolkit: A practical tool designed to help individuals evaluate and improve their mobility habits, fostering greener commuting choices. The Toolkit is now available for free in all partner languages.
As part of the final phase of the project, all partner countries hosted General Training Sessions to raise awareness and foster discussion about sustainable urban mobility. LAND hosted two successful sessions on October 16 and 17, which provided practical insights into how urban mobility can be improved through collaborative efforts and active citizenship. Participants also shared local case studies, sparking discussions on how to implement sustainable mobility solutions in their own communities.
The Final Dissemination Events of GREENMOBILITY were organised in all 5 partner countries during the month of November. Specifically, the final event organised by LAND took place on November 26 at the EPYC (European Palermo Youth Center) in Palermo. The roundtable discussion gathered diverse stakeholders to share insights on sustainable urban mobility in the region. The conversation explored different perspectives – social, economic, political and cultural – demonstrating the importance of dialogue in shaping sustainable solutions.
A proud milestone for the consortium was the recognition of Prof. Živilė Stankevičiūtė, the coordinator of GREENMOBILITY from Kaunas University of Technology. Her exceptional leadership within the project earned her an award during the International Project Management Day celebrations. This recognition is a testament to the hard work and passion that have driven the project forward.
While the project may be ending, the resources, ideas and momentum created will continue to inspire change for years to come.

The workshop is organized within the Erasmus+ GREENMOBILITY project which aims to promote lifelong learning in higher education on the topic of sustainable urban mobility. All the materials produced will be free and can be used as awareness tools by students, teachers, sector professionals, NGOs, local administrations and all citizens in the fight against CO2 emissions deriving from the transportation sector.
GREENMOBILITY, funded by the Erasmus+ programme, is running from December 2022 to December 2024, in collaboration with Kaunas University of Technology (Lithuania), University of Thessaly (Greece), Land Impresa Sociale (Italy), SYNTHESIS CENTER FOR RESEARCH AND EDUCATION LIMITED (Cyprus ) and The International Sustainability Collaborative (Sweden).
