The GROWS project aims to raise awareness and empower the VET sector on the significance of sustainable waste management and the environment while improving the capacity of VET providers/trainers to implement activities in the field of environmental education with a focus on sustainable waste management and increase the levels of competences of VET providers on preparing and implementing a green education action plan.

Objectives

  • Build the capacity of VET providers to implement sustainable waste management practices in the field of environmental education
  • Improve VET providers’ competences to prepare/implement a green education action plan
  • Raise awareness about the significance of decreasing waste to VET providers and learners
  • Develop innovative pedagogical learning material and resources for the VET sector to promote environmental awareness and improve VET learner’s green skills

Actions

  • Desk and Field research to identify common needs in the sector on the significance of sustainable waste management and the environment, comparing national/European level data and results.
  • Provide a collection of hands-on teaching material and digital resources focusing on sustainable waste management to be adopted and adapted by VET trainers in their everyday practices
  • equip VET providers/trainers with theoretical and practical skills on how to develop a green education action plan with a focus on waste management

Impact

  • Environmental awareness raising on waste management within the VET sector
  • Improved capacity of VET providers/trainers to implement sustainable waste management practices in the field of environmental education
  • Partners will actively apply the project outcomes in their practices after the projects ends and will be freely accessible by different means to anyone interested
  • Active involvement of VET providers/trainers and key persons from organizations and ministries in the field of VET education
  • Setup of a committee and dissemination group of at least 100 target group members, stakeholders and experts from all over EU (VET providers & trainers, private and public organizations active in VET, and competent bodies at local, regional, national and EU levels)

Results

  • Toolkit with a collection of guidelines and best practices on developing a green strategy in VET
  • E-learning platform and OERs with gamified characteristics including an intelligent tutor for guidance on creating a green education action plan
  • Training programme on waste management and implementation
  • Committee of experts
